Maximum 8. \nQuestions: Bruce Hansen\, 541-207-5877\, bhansen@cmug.com \nHave you noticed that many of the photos in Andy Lamb’s books are from Sechelt inlet? \nThe Setting: Sechelt inlet/Skookumchuck narrows provide an outstanding range of boat dives.  The tides this week will allow 2 slack tide dives in Skookumchuck Narrows. This is an underwater landscape sculpted by tidal surges greater than 16 knots.  The wall dives in Jervis Inlet provide an opportunity to see Gorgonian corals at recreational depths along with cloud sponges and an abundance of invertebrates and fish.  Sechelt Inlet provides a number of close by shallow reefs to poke around in and see abundant life. All with fantastic visibility! \nThe Accommodations: Strongwater Retreat is a 5 minute boat ride from the Egmont dock.  Accommodations and bath facilities are in heated yurts. Meals and common room are in the main house.  Dive gear stays on the boat and there is a drying room to hang suits and thermals. \nThe fine print: Maximum registration 8. \n$150 USD deposit reserves your place.  Full payment $600 USD due by March 1. The steep channel walls are covered in marine life\, including colorful anemones\, sponges\, nudibranch\, tube worms\, and soft corals.  The cracks and crevices provide cover for rockfish\, wolf eels octopus and more. Both slack and drift dives are available. Campbell River and Vancouver Island consistently rate high on dive surveys. \nThe Accommodations: The Comfort Inn\, opened in 2015\, is in downtown Campbell River and 3 blocks from the marina.  Rooms are double occupancy. SUMMARY:Are You an Oregon Coast Aquarium Diver? Take Part in a DAN Study...
DESCRIPTION:DAN has been conducting a study of Diving and your Heart in divers over 40 for the last couple of years.  The link below is to an article that recently appeared in Alert Diver about the study.  It is quite interesting. \nRead the article here. \nThey were looking for one more group to participate in the study.  We contacted them and proposed using Oregon Coast Aquarium divers from Eugene Dive Club.  Out of 25 inquiries from dive groups around the country they selected us because of the Oregon Coast Aquarium controlled dive conditions\, and because we are primarily drysuit divers. That’s new for them. And because so many of us are old I guess….. \nThe study will be conducted at Oregon Coast Aquarium the week of October 16-20th.  Dive teams for that week have been notified\, but we will need some additional folks too. If your shift is not already scheduled for that week\, you are a current with your Oregon Coast Aquarium dive requirements\, over 40\, and you are available to participate one of those days please contact Jenna Walker at Jenna.Walker@aquarium.org.  She’ll get you the info you need to participate. \nThis is a great opportunity to participate in important research that can benefit all of us.  It should be fun.

DESCRIPTION:The club has scheduled two days of 3-tank dives with Garibaldi Charters to dive 3 Arch Rocks and Cape Lookout.  These trips are for both hunters and non-hunters. This is a rare opportunity; few dive charters make it to Cape Lookout each year.  Diving 3 Arch Rocks is restricted May 1-Sept 15 to protect nesting birds.  Each day costs $150.00\, signup is at the shop; provide your own tanks. Minimum 6\, Max 12-14. \nQuestions: Contact Bruce Hansen\, 541 207 5877\, bhansen@cmug.com \nThe Setting: Sechelt inlet/Skookumchuck narrows provide an outstanding range of boat dives. The tides this week will allow for two slack tide dives in Skookumchuck Narrows. This is an underwater landscape sculpted by tidal surges greater than 16 knots. The wall dives in Jervis Inlet provide an opportunity to see Gorgonian corals at recreational depths along with cloud sponges and an abundance of invertebrates and fish. Sechlet Inlet provides a number of close by shallow reefs to poke around in and see abundant life. All with fantastic visibility! \nThe Accommodations: Strongwater Retreat is a 5 minute boat ride from the Egmont dock. Accommodations and bath facilities are in heated yurts. Meals and common room are in the main house. Dive gear stays on the boat and there is a drying room to hang suits and thermals. \nThe fine print: Maximum registration 14\, minimum 6. $200 deposit reserves your place. The steep\nchannel walls are covered in marine life\, including colorful anemones\, sponges\, nudibranch\, tube worms\, and\nsoft corals. The cracks and crevices provide cover for rockfish\, wolf eels octopus and more. Both slack and\ndrift dives are available.
